For weeks leading into Christmas, more than 500 entries poured into the Tablet Newspaper offices filled with colorful pieces of artwork created by students from Catholic academies, high schools and churches from around the diocese. Once again, handcrafted as labors of love, the young artists’ work showcased how they keep Christ in the Christmas season.

More than 200 student volunteers from St. Francis Preparatory School, Fresh Meadows, opened their school doors and their hearts to men and women with special needs from throughout Brooklyn and Queens.

“Ignite” is the theme for this year’s Brooklyn Catholic Youth Day. The event will take place March 30 and consists of Mass with a bishop, talks, music, confession and adoration. Lunch will be provided.
