Youth Views: What would you say to St. Joseph today?

The feast of St. Joseph is March 19. He is also the patron saint of immigrants. If he was still alive, what would you tell him or ask him and why?

I would ask him to tell the world that immigration creates a more inclusive society, thus bringing us closer to God. With negative stigmas towards immigrants, we foster hateful attitudes and prejudice.

I would thank him for protecting my grandparents, keeping them safe as they immigrated to create the environment I am in today.

St. Joseph is the patron saint of my school and his mission of all-inclusive love and acceptance is reflected all throughout. I would ask him to continue to pray for immigrants all over the world, as well as refugees seeking solace from their hardships, especially in the times of today.

I would tell him to go and help out the immigrants who are being persecuted in America now. Everyone deserves a shot to reach his or her goals. My family was immigrants who grew to love America, even fighting for its independence. I want to live somewhere where every person is welcome, welcome to work, start a family and build a life without restriction. I would ask Saint Joseph to help immigrants inside the country and to help those who wish to emigrate anywhere due to unfavorable conditions in their home country.

I would ask him what is his personal view on today’s news dealing with the immigrant ban made by Trump. St. Joseph is also the patron saint of my school and we strive to be like him. Our school believes in hospitality for all and has a diverse student body.
