After another exciting season of GCHSAA hoops action, here are the 2016-2017 Brooklyn/Queens girls’ high school basketball all-stars.
Father Guy Morgan, O.F.M., 90, a professed Franciscan friar for 67 years and a priest for 62, died March 10 at Bay Pines Veterans Hospital, Fla.
Tim Leary recently announced that this would be his final season coaching at the Prep. He is set to retire as the winningest coach in St. Francis Prep history as well as the active wins leader among Brooklyn/Queens CHSAA boys’ hoops coaches.

The Armory in Manhattan was the site of the exciting CHSAA Brooklyn/Queens boys’ sectional track and field championships on Jan. 29.
Project Joy conducted by the Franciscan Youth Movement (FYM) invited the St. Francis Prep community in Fresh Meadows to bring joy to the elderly by writing Christmas letters.
Players were selected from the five high schools that field gridiron teams in Brooklyn and Queens.
The St. Francis Prep, Fresh Meadows, varsity and junior varsity girls’ cross-country teams each won their respective Brooklyn-Queens diocesan titles this fall season.
