Recently the St. Edmund Prep Model Congress Team traveled to Washington D.C. to compete in Princeton Model Congress. The eight students assumed their roles as Representatives and Senators and fought for the bills they drafted weeks before the competition.

I had sacrificed much of my free time rebuilding my friendship with an old classmate.

Sister Muriel Smithwick, C.S.J., formerly Sister St. Florence, a Sister of St. Joseph, Brentwood, L.I., for 72 years, died in Maria Regina Residence, Brentwood, Jan. 14.
Youth Views: What was a sacrifice that you’ve made that was worth it?
A sacrifice that I have made that is worth it is participating in the Hunger Awareness Challenge because it is helping the less fortunate. I try to live in their shoes for one day during each school cycle and donate money for a greater good.

Three new records were set at this year’s Catholic Youth Organization boys’ swim Olympics and The athletic department at St. Edmund Prep H.S., Sheepshead Bay, presented the fourth annual Jose Rodriguez Memorial Scholarship to junior Kaelyn Edwards.
What is a sacrifice that you’ve made that was worth it?
A sacrifice in my life that I’ve made was giving up my time to altar serve, but at the end of the day, it made me feel better as a person.

Teens from St. Edmund Prep Prep Thanksgiving Dinner for Harlem
On Nov. 25 students, faculty, staff and alumni prepared 370 pounds of delicious “Stuffing From Heaven.” The food was donated to a larger Thanksgiving meal served to those in need on Morningside Drive in Harlem.
