Team Edmund at St. Edmund Prep, Sheepshead Bay, once again took part in their annual Thanksgiving tradition, the Street Corner Gourmet.

On Wednesday, Nov. 25 students, faculty, staff and alumni prepared 370 pounds of delicious “Stuffing From Heaven” and a variety of desserts. The food was donated to a larger Thanksgiving meal served to those in need on Morningside Drive in Harlem.

All the stuffing was heated and wrapped in blankets on the morning of Thanksgiving. Team Edmund transported the food to Harlem, where they spend the day sharing in the festivities.

The Street Corner Gourmet program was started by a single nun who felt that she should share her Thanksgiving meal with people who are less fortunate. What started as a single person trying to help others has escalated into a huge organization that now feeds the homeless, the needy and the less fortunate on the streets of Harlem every Thanksgiving.

This year’s T-shirts featured a quote from President John F. Kennedy: “We have the ability, the means and the capacity to eliminate hunger from the face of the earth…we need only the will.”
