Bishop Earl Fernandes beamed his trademark smile Tuesday, May 31 throughout his ordination and installation as the new shepherd for the Diocese of Columbus. He succeeds Bishop Robert Brennan who left Columbus to lead the Diocese of Brooklyn.
Pope Francis has appointed Father Earl K. Fernandes, a former staff member of the apostolic nunciature in Washington and currently a Cincinnati pastor, to head the Diocese of Columbus, Ohio.
A school visit by Bishop Robert Brennan served to reinforce his view that parents of students in the Diocese of Brooklyn deserve vouchers, tax credits, or some other type of state-funded support. That would give families a real choice in educating their children, he said.
