In closing the Year of Consecrated Life and in anticipation of the World Day for Consecrated Life, St. John’s University (SJU) Campus Ministry sponsored “Brothers’ Nite,” at the 5:30 p.m. Mass, Jan. 31. Students were able to see, meet and pray with 29 Brothers from six congregations in the University Church of St. Thomas More, Jamaica.
Present were: the Marist Brothers, the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, the De LaSalle Christian Brothers, the Marianist Brothers, the Brothers of Holy Cross and the Franciscan Brothers of Brooklyn.

“Merciful Like the Father,” is the special Year of Mercy theme for the annual day of prayer at Holy Cross Church, Flatbush, on Feb. 20.
Sponsored by the English Charismatic Prayer Group, the session will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sister Pat Lucas, C.S.J., will be one of two guest speakers. The donation is $7 and includes light refreshments. Attendees are asked to bring their own brown bag lunch.

St. Camillus Catholic Academy Welcomes Bishop Sanchez
St. Camillus Catholic Academy, Rockaway Park, was honored to have Auxiliary Bishop Paul Sanchez visit during Catholic Schools Week. He celebrate Mass, blessed and distribute the class rings to the eighth grade and answered students’ questions about the Year of Mercy. Bishop Sanchez and Brother Ralph Darmento, deputy superintendent of schools and academies, presented Principal Sheila Smith Gonzalez and Father Richard Ahlemeyer with a plaque to mark the visit.
