The Catholic Youth Organization of Brooklyn and Queens recently crowned its indoor track champions for the 2017 season.
In the boys’ Eastern Division, Our Lady of Lourdes, Queens Village, placed first with 129 pts. St. Kevin’s, Flushing, finished second with 75 pts., and St. Margaret’s, Middle Village, came in third with 69 pts. In the boys’ Western Division, Holy Family, Flushing, took home first place with 16 pts., followed by St. Clement Pope, Jamaica, in second with 15 pts. and Holy Trinity, Whitestone, in third with 14 pts.
In the girls’ East, Our Lady of Lourdes emerged victorious with 167.5 pts. St. Anne’s, Flushing, placed second with 120 pts., and St. Joan of Arc, Jackson Heights, came in third with 55 pts. In the girls’ West, Our Lady of the Snows, North Floral Park, took home the title with 21 pts.
Jack Kimmeth (above), a senior varsity swimmer at Xaverian H.S., Bay Ridge, has been accepted to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. A parishioner at Blessed Trinity, Breezy Point, has been a member of the Xaverian community since he was a sixth grader in the school’s Genesis Program.
In addition to swimming, he is involved with the Xaverian Pipe and Drum Corp.
“Both growing up in Breezy Point and attending Xaverian has made me who I am today, and I am thankful for everything that everyone has provided me with and cannot wait for my turn to able to give back to my school, my community and the world,” Kimmeth said.
