*Digital Exclusive* Let Them Speak: Fontbonne Senior Reflects on Winning Big at Bay Ridge Art Walk

By Lauren Silverman

The Bay Ridge Storefront Art Walk (SAW) seemed like something foreign to me at first. I wasn’t sure where to start once I was chosen for it. I hadn’t expected to get in!

It was especially challenging because I was the only high school student participating, but I soon found out that it didn’t matter- everyone in SAW, including the artists and the people in charge, were incredibly supportive and were always available if I had any questions.

I learned a lot from the experience as well. This was my first time working with installation art, so I faced some roadblocks concerning weight and longevity.

The main things I’ve taken away from SAW are: experience in both a new medium and in art shows, as well as knowledge about methods and materials used in installations.
