DYKER HEIGHTS — “Catholic men building a bridge back to faith” is the mission statement for the almost 2 million members from around the world who unite under three words: Knights of Columbus.
Operating under the values of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism for more than 130 years, the Knights of Columbus also bear the titles of husbands, fathers, sons and neighbors. Just like every other parishioner, they sit in the same pews, attend weekend Masses with their families and enjoy a good meal after a good homily.
At one Dyker Heights council that started 120 years ago, the Knights held a ceremony in December unlike any other. That’s according to Grand Knight Rich Pagnotta, who, alongside a couple of his council’s knights, held a traditional private ceremony for the induction of its newest member…
