Vivian Wohlfarth

Vivian Wohlfarth, mother of Deacon Eugene Wohlfarth of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Bayside, died Dec. 6 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 80.

Wohlfarth was born in Flushing. She had a healthy childhood until the age of 9, when she developed rheumatoid arthritis. She also battled diabetes throughout her life.

Her great love was music. She received a doctorate in music and shared her time and talents at Sacred Heart of Jesus parish in Bayside for 52 years as the director of music.

She taught both children and adults to sing and directed the choir. She also marketed and produced concerts with her choir and the Art Strings Quartet.

She is survived by her son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Wohlfarth’s funeral Mass was Dec. 14 at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Martindale, Texas. Memorial services in New York will be celebrated at a later date.

  1. May she Rest In Peace. I was thinking of her today at Sacred Heart Mass. how fortunate we were to have such a wonderful woman with a magnificent voice, and.a brilliant musician. I often thought if I should go first, I would so love her to sing at my funeral. Sympathy to her son and daughter-in-Law and the whole family. Must not forget her friends in Bayside

  2. Although she had only a few hours, Vivian learned a song I requested for my dad’s funeral. I will never forget her kindness. My sincerest sympathy to you and your family.
