Youth Views: What is the hardest part of the school day?
The hardest part of my day is actually getting up, getting ready and setting my goals. I want to achieve as much as possible in one day, so I think about what I can and cannot do in order of benefits.
What is a sacrifice you made that was worth it?
One sacrifice I made that was worth it was when I gave up my free time to focus on my education, giving me better grades than ever.
The Views of Youth
Dear Editor: Many thanks for the March 19th Youth Views column. Having taught our Catholic youth for almost 50 years, I always want to read what today’s young people have to say. This week they were asked “what virtue or value we should strive for as a country.”
What is a virtue that you hold true?
I believe kindness is a virtue that brightens everyone’s day. You may never know what someone is going through so if I’m able to make someone smile, that is my priority.
Youth Views: What is a virtue or value we should strive for as a country?
As a nation, we strive for the virtue of tolerance, serving as a haven for all those who need it. Personally, I try to embody this ideal by being accepting and open to the people I encounter.
How do you live out Charity?
I give my time to my parish basketball organization. I work the books and coach a fifth grade team.
YV: Reflect upon the following quote by Pope Francis
Nobody likes to be looked down upon. So, we should treat even the hungry and poor as our equals rather then just give them money out of pity.
Youth Views: What motivates you?
What motivates me is the goals I have set for myself. I am not too hard on myself, but I do refuse to give up when I know something is achievable.
Youth Views: How do you beat procrastination?
I try to do my work as soon as I get it so I can not worry about it later.
