The Views of Youth

Dear Editor: Many thanks for the March 19th Youth Views column. Having taught our Catholic youth for almost 50 years, I always want to read what today’s young people have to say. This week they were asked “what virtue or value we should strive for as a country.”

What is a virtue that you hold true?

I believe kindness is a virtue that brightens everyone’s day. You may never know what someone is going through so if I’m able to make someone smile, that is my priority.

How do you live out Charity?

I give my time to my parish basketball organization. I work the books and coach a fifth grade team.

Youth Views: What motivates you?

What motivates me is the goals I have set for myself. I am not too hard on myself, but I do refuse to give up when I know something is achievable.
