Anthony Alfaro, who coached the women’s basketball team at LaGuardia Community College, for the past four seasons, has taken over as the girls’ varsity hoops coach at Cristo Rey Brooklyn H.S.

Khalid Moore, a senior forward on the Archbishop Molloy H.S., Briarwood, boys’ varsity basketball team, will continue his hoops career at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta.

St. Francis Prep, Fresh Meadows, hosted its second Red and Blue Terrier Ring of Honor gala event. CYO hosts boys’ hoops championships and girls’ swimming Olympics.

Hoops Tourney Keeps Child’s Spirit Alive

From Oct. 2 to 21, Cathedral Prep and Seminary hosted the Colin Flood Hoops for Hope Memorial Basketball Tournament. Colin was an eight-year-old boy from Middle Village who passed away on June 22, 2014.

Msgr. King Tourney Keeps Tradition Alive (with video)

King Hall at St. Thomas Aquinas parish, Flatlands, and you will immediately see that the parish’s sports association has done a fine job in keeping alive the many basketball memories of the past. And from Dec. 26 to 30, a new chapter of that storied history was written in the form of this year’s Msgr. King Basketball Tournament.
