St. Francis Prep, Fresh Meadows, hosted its second Red and Blue Terrier Ring of Honor gala event on March 18 at the Crest Hollow Country Club, Woodbury, L.I. Sixty-one honorees – including athletes, coaches, moderators and athletic directors – who have made a significant contribution to the Prep’s sports legacy were enshrined. Additionally, several teams were honored, including the 1966 varsity football team, the 1956-1957 cross-country, indoor and outdoor track and field teams, the 1980 girls’ varsity basketball team and the 1984 varsity softball team. Over 700 swimmers from 16 teams participated in the CYO girls’ swim Olympics at Eisenhower Park Aquatic Center, East Meadow. Four records were set: Bantam 100-yd. Freestyle Relay, St. Sebastian, Woodside, 55 secs.; Tri-M (Our Lady of Mercy, Forest Hills) Bantam 100-yd. Medley Relay, 1:04.10; Tess Howley, St. Francis de Sales, Belle Harbor, 25.08 secs. in the Junior 50-yd. Freestyle; Senior 50-yd. Backstroke, Grace Adams, ANSOLA (St. Anselm/Our Lady of Angels, Bay Ridge) 27.75 secs.
