Battle of the Orators in Jamaica Estates

Eleven students at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Academy in Jamaica Estates, ranging from sixth to eighth grade, battled it out with an oratorical contest. They memorized influential speeches and striked a pose to express the feeling of their speeches for the photo seen above. Sixth grader Ysabella Pawlicki, second from left, triumphed as the winner with her rendition of the speech given by Severn Suzuki in 1992 to the UN Conference on Environment and Development.
