Sister St. Elizabeth Montgomery, C.S.J., a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Brentwood, for 72 years, died Oct. 13.
She entered the congregation from St. Nicholas of Tolentine parish in Jamaica in 1945.
She went on to attend Manhattan College and received a master’s degree in early education from Hunter College.
She taught at Immaculate Conception, Brooklyn, 1947-48; Immaculate Heart of Mary, Kensington, 1948-52; Holy Name of Mary, Valley Stream, L.I., 1952-54; St. James, Downtown Brooklyn, 1954-55; St. Christopher, Baldwin, L.I., 1955-59; St. Athanasius, Bensonhurst, 1959-65; St. Clare, Rosedale, 1965-70; and Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Long Island City, 1970-75.
She worked as day care director in the Little People’s Care Center, Medford, L.I., 1975-87; worked at the Academy of St. Joseph H.S., Brentwood, 1987-95; and in the administration offices of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Brentwood, 1995-2006.
Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Brentwood.
