Shining Stars (with slide show)

 

The Diocese’s Catholic Migration Office (CMO) held two dinners to honor their Shining Stars, Oct. 7 and 14.  Each apostolate celebrated one of its members.  The honors were bestowed by Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio; Father Patrick Keating, CMO director, and Msgr. Ronald Marino, Vicar for Migrant Services.  The honorees and their apostolates are: Antonio and Marina Alvarez, Columbia; Aida Alvarez, Cuba; Augustine Chan (Queens), China; Paul Remy Dang, Vietnam; Cora Co Dioquino, Philippines; Sir Obed C.   1. This piece on the shining Stars should have been the one that appeared in the editor’s corner of the Tablet paper itself rather than the piece that was published. The one published seemed to have given high light to a few rather than all honorees making the paper worthless for keep sake. The center page should also have given photo spread for the two night events. I have always participated in the event from when it used to be a one night event to the present. The bottom line is if you are going to make the paper worth it for your readers, especially on this shining star event that boosts the diocese fund raising keep it inclusive of all the stars. They came recommended by their various communities.
