Prayer for the Eucharist

Dear Editor: I am a Snow Angel….we go from New York to Florida….

In Florida, right after the priest receives the host and before distributing it to the congregation, the prayer below is said out loud by the congregation.

They put this prayer in each of the prayer books on the inside cover. Their books have see-through plastic covers and each one has this prayer.

I don’t know why we don’t say it here in New York.

“O Lord, I believe and profess that you are truly Christ, Son of the Living God, who came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the first. Accept me this day as a partaker of your mystical supper. O Son of God, may the partaking of your holy mysteries, O Lord, be not for judgement or condemnation, but for the healing of body and soul. I also believe and profess that this, which I am about to receive, is truly your most precious Body and Blood, which, I pray, make me worthy to receive for the remission of all my sins and life everlasting. Amen.”
