Teens prepared lanterns and a cultural dance to celebrate the feast of the Immaculate Conception at Our Lady of Lourdes parish, Queens Village. Various resources were provided by the Consulate of Colombia as part of the different workshops held at the parish.
“Our church is rich in traditions and these manifestations of the faith allow us to encounter Christ,” said youth minister Angelica Taveras. “I hope the teens can immerse themselves in the beauty of their faith and reflect on how it speaks to them.”
College student Vivian Argoty said it allowed her to connect her culture and express her faith in a beautiful way. Seventh grader Jaylene Roque said it felt nice to participate in the dance because she got to know the Colombian culture a bit more.
