Father Dominic Scotto, TOR, a native of Brooklyn, will be honored on the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood by his religious order – the Third Order Regular of St. Francis, Province of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus – in Loretto, Pa., on July 12.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, he attended Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary School, Carroll Gardens; St. Francis Prep, Brooklyn; and the School of Visual Arts, Manhattan.
He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Korean War. He entered the Franciscan order in February 1955 and was ordained in 1967. He is a currently a professor of theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio.
