Only in Print: Pontifical Honors Conferred to 57 Humble Servants of the Church

PROSPECT HEIGHTS — Ed Wilkinson, editor emeritus of The Tablet, never imagined an honor first given to the Vatican’s legendary Swiss Guards would be the accolade that capped his 50 years covering the Diocese of Brooklyn, but that’s what happened last Saturday Sep. 19.

Wilkinson and 56 other laypeople received Pontifical Honors during a mid-morning prayer service presided by Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio at the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph.
