May Crowning is a traditional Catholic ritual held during the month of May. Usually, a solemn procession takes place, which ends with the statue of the Blessed Virgin being crowned with a garland or crown of flowers. The tradition honors Mary and the “Queen of May” as the Mother of the Son of God.

Around the Diocese of Brooklyn, faithful from parishes, Catholic academies and schools, celebrated Mary in May.
