Letters to the Editor

Living the Gospel Message

Dear Editor: I would like to thank Rita M. Murphy for those most kind words (Readers’ Forum, Sept. 26) to my letter to The Tablet (Sept. 9) concerning my experiences with homelessness.

It is most heartwarming to hear from people like yourself with what you have done to help the homeless. I hope and pray others are prone to help the homeless in response to our two letters.

As for myself, I have learned from my experiences and today I am a lector at St. Anastasia parish in Douglaston and I am currently Grand Knight of St. Anastasia Knights of Columbus in Douglaston, which is a charitable organization where our main objective is charity.

As Pope Francis pointed out while he was here and recalled what is written in Matthew 25, 35-36, which says, “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, naked and you clothed me, ill and you care for me, in prison and you visited me.”

This is what we all should do. God bless Rita M. Murphy for all that she does for those in need of kindness.
