Dear Editor: On Sunday evening, Nov. 23, at Leonard’s of Great Neck, more than 300 people joined with the Lions Club of Douglaston-Little Neck to honor Sister Ave Clark, O.P., with its Humanitarian of the Year Award.

The event was a great success with enough money donated to acquire, raise and train two more guide dogs for the blind: a charity that the Lions have long been associated with.

And then today we heard that Pope Francis has assured us that our pets will be waiting for us in heaven – great news for Sister Ave and Sunshine Yorkie.
