Holy Name’s Class of ’57 Reunites

The Boys Class of January, 1957, from Holy Name of Jesus School in Windsor Terrace, held its 60th reunion May 24. Father Larry Ryan, Holy Name’s pastor, welcomed the men and offered his blessing upon them.

Krzysztof Lach was inducted as a NYC Housing Court judge in late April. Lach is a parishioner at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Greenpoint, where he also serves as president of the parish pastoral council. Bóg zapłac!

Twins Andrew and Anthony LaBarbara from Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy in Gravesend, are headed to high school in Manhattan this fall.
Andrew was accepted into Xavier H.S., while Anthony is headed to Regis H.S. The boys are active parishioners at Our Lady of Grace, where they are altar servers and Boy Scouts, helping with all fundraising functions at the school and church.

And more good news from Our Lady of Grace, Gravesend: Former parishioner Robert Pinnisi was ordained to the permanent diaconate for the Diocese of Metuchen, N.J., by Bishop James F. Checchio on May 20. God bless you Deacon Pinnisi.

Raymond Filoteo, a parishioner and former altar server at Immaculate Conception Church, Jamaica, earned his bachelor’s degree in aeronautical science this spring. He also successfully passed his exams with the Federal Aviation Administration and is now a licensed pilot.

D’Cruze

Luciana D’Cruze, a former parishioner of St. Gerard Majella parish, Hollis, and now a postulant with the Religious Teachers Filippini of Morristown, N.J., earned a certificate in theological studies from Assumption College for Sisters, Denville, N.J., May 13.

Jason Frias, a parishioner and active member of the Jornada Movement at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Sunset Park, recently graduated from the New York City Police Academy.

St. Francis College in Brooklyn Heights is renaming its annual golf outing in memory of the college’s former president. The Brendan J. Dugan ’68 Memorial Meadow Brook Club Golf Outing will be held Tuesday, June 20 on the Meadow Brook Golf Course, Jericho, L.I.
Golfers have the choice to play 18 holes on the newly restored course or can take part in a two-hour golf clinic with a PGA professional. The event ends with a cocktail reception, awards, and an auction. To register, call 718-489-5361 or email development@sfc.edu.

This week, St. Joseph’s College announced its newly created educational partnership with Northwell Health.
As part of this partnership, the college will offer a discounted tuition rate to all Northwell Health employees who enroll for land-based education on either the Clinton Hill or Patchogue, L.I., campuses. The college’s current educational partners include Teachers Federal Credit Union, Catholic Charities, the Brooklyn Diocese and National Grid.

Locario

Rashid Locario, a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church in Bedford-Stuyvesant, has earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from St. John’s University, Collegeville, Minn., this spring.

An alumnus of Cristo Rey Brooklyn H.S., Rashid was a member of The Tablet’s 2012 All-Scholastic Team.

As a high-school student, he completed a work-study internship with DeSales Media Group and The Tablet. He distinguished himself as a dependable, hard-working young man who was always ready to share a smile or offer assistance.
