Ozone Park Parish Honors America’s Fallen Heroes

Men and women who gave their lives for the Stars and Stripes were remembered at a Memorial Day Mass at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary-St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Church, Ozone Park. Father Paul Palmiotto, pastor, celebrated Mass and led the prayers for the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for this country. Catholic women are invited to Journey in the Footsteps of St. Jeanne Jugan with the Little Sisters of the Poor at St. Ann’s Novitiate, Queens Village, June 9-11. Providence House is hosting 2017 People of Hope Celebration at The Water Club, on Thursday, June 8 starting at 6 p.m. This year’s honorees are Phil Mittleman; Rosalie Cutting; and Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP. There will also be a special tribute in memory of board member, Royce Mulholland. Established by four Sisters of St. Joseph in 1979, Providence House is a non-profit dedicated to transitioning women who are homeless and recently released from prison back into society.

Parishioners and clergy at St. Sebastian Church are proudly preparing for the parish’s 10th annual Corpus Christi Procession.
The procession will be held on the feast of Corpus Christi, June 18, following the 1:30 p.m. Mass. Father Kevin Abels, pastor, will lead the way followed by parish choirs, a piper and about 900 parishioners. The procession will make three stops at the homes of parishioners before Benediction with the Blessed Sacrament. All are welcome to attend this witness of faith in Woodside.

Douglaston K of C Council Marks Golden Jubilee

 
On May 21, the St. Anastasia Knights of Columbus Council No. 5911 celebrated its 50th anniversary at St. Anastasia Church in Douglaston. The council’s associate chaplain, Auxiliary Bishop Octavio Cisneros, was the main celebrant of the anniversary Mass. Brunch followed at LaGrotta Italian Restaurant in Little Neck. As part of the celebration, the Knights honored 50-year member Joseph Stock as Knight of the Year.
