Deacon John A. Tierney, who served at Sylvester’s parish, City Line, before transferring to the Diocese of Albany, died June 3 at Saratoga Hospital in upstate New York. He was 83.

He had been ordained to the permanent diaconate on April 9, 1988.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 7 at Corpus Christi Church, Round Lake. Burial was in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.

He is survived by his wife, Irene, of Ballston Lake, NY.
