Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Academy in Forest Hills is a Catholic, co-educational school with classes from nursery to grade 8.
The academy offers full-day nursery and full-day pre-kindergarten.
The academy provides a quality education for children while assisting their creative formation. The educational program promotes spiritual and academic growth based on the Gospel message.
Along with meeting all New York State and diocesan educational requirements, the academy offers the following enrichment and service programs: After School Program until 6:30 p.m, Before School Program starting at 7 a.m., monthly liturgies, TACHS exam preparation, reading remediation, field days, diocesan math bees, altar service, band, CYO basketball, Student Council, spring and Christmas musical revues, annual talent shows and youth group (grades seven and eight).
Each teacher utilizes a SMART Board for daily instruction. Grades pre-kindergarten to eight attend art, computer, library, music, physical education and Spanish class each week. Ninety-seven percent of graduates are accepted to Catholic high schools in the area. There is a full-time Department of Health nurse on staff.
The academy is proud of its commitment to partner with families in the education of each child. This bond helps foster a true family-centered atmosphere. The academy is proud to boast of its strong faculty, many of whom have been on staff for more than 30 years and who provide a constant, positive presence in the children’s lives. A strong parent group plays an active role in the school community.
The academy encourages students to explore their strengths and challenges through diverse instruction. Utilizing knowledge of both their students and the community, faculty members foster an atmosphere that recognizes the many cultures and customs of each individual. The academy strives to cultivate a nurturing environment, where students feel free to express their talents.
