Providing Skills For Long-Term Success
Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Forest Hills is a Catholic, co-educational school with classes from nursery to grade eight. We offer half-day nursery and both full- and half-day pre-k. We provide a quality education for children while assisting in their creative formation. Our educational program promotes spiritual and academic growth based on the Gospel message.
Along with meeting all New York State and diocesan educational requirements, OLQM has the following enrichment and service programs: after-school program until 6:30 p.m., before-school program starting at 7:30 a.m., monthly liturgies, TACHS Exam prep, reading remediation, field days, diocesan math bees, altar service, band, CYO basketball, Student Council, spring and Christmas musical revues, annual talent shows and youth group (seventh and eighth grades).
Each teacher utilizes a SMART Board for daily instruction. Grades pre-k to eight attend art, computer, library, music, physical education and Spanish classes each week. Ninety-seven percent of our graduates are accepted to Catholic high schools in the area. We have a full-time Department of Health nurse on staff.
We are proud of our commitment to partner with families in the education of each child. This strong bond helps foster a true family-centered atmosphere. We are proud to boast of our strong faculty, many of whom have been here more than 25 years and who provide a constant, positive presence in the children’s lives. We have a strong parent group that plays an active role in the school community.
OLQM encourages students to explore their strengths and challenges through diverse instruction. Our faculty utilizes knowledge of both student and community to foster an atmosphere recognizing the many cultures and customs of each individual. We strive to cultivate a nurturing environment where students feel free to express their talents. We provide children with the necessary skills for long-term success.
