Located in the heart of Astoria, Immaculate Conception School serves families with children from toddlers to teens.  Children from all over the world attend our school where our mission is to provide every child with a safe and nurturing environment that facilitates a love of learning as well as a love for God, others and self. Everyone involved with “Immac” subscribes to and believes in this mission.
Teachers at Immaculate Conception School have been working diligently to make the transition from the New York State Learning Standards to the Common Core Learning Standards by reviewing resources in print and online and by attending workshops and courses.  The Common Core Learning Standards are comprehensive and apply from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.  They are designed to ensure that students graduating from high school will be career and college ready. Teachers have to adjust what is taught and how it is taught for these 21st-century learners.
Catholic identity is essential to the success of Immaculate Conception School. All students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade have classes in religion with an age-appropriate curriculum.
Students begin and end their day with prayer, and prayers are said before and after meals. There are monthly liturgies including Mass, Rosary, Stations of the Cross, Penance Services, Benediction and May Crowning of our Blessed Mother. The teachers are trained catechists, but if the students raise questions that the teachers cannot answer, the parish priests address them during their weekly visits. This is truly a faith-filled environment.
