Dear Editor: We now know from Hillary Clinton’s emails that high-ranking liberal Catholics in the Democratic Party (many formerly worked at the U.S. Catholic Conference of Bishops) created a group called Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good in order to infiltrate the Catholic Church and cause a “revolution” or “Catholic Spring.”

Their goal is to change her teachings on abortion, contraception, homosexual unions, etc. More pointedly, they wanted to use “the bishops opposing contraceptive coverage” to be the tinder for that revolution.

Clinton’s running mate, Senator Tim Kaine, a self-proclaimed “devout Catholic” who believes the Church will soon “evolve on same-sex marriage,” proudly laid out Clinton’s master plan should she become president. In a speech to the Human Rights Campaign, Kaine said Clinton plans to sign the Federal Equality Act for LGBTQ Americans. The federal government would then force Catholic priests to perform gay “weddings” and Catholic businesses to accommodate the LGBTQ community, for starters. The effects of this law on the Church would be devastating.

On the flip side, in a letter to the 18th annual Catholic Leadership Conference (one week before the Clinton email revelations), Donald Trump addressed the concerns of the Catholic Church.

In it, he explains, “On life, I am, and will remain, pro-life. I will defend your religious liberties and the right to fully and freely practice your religion, as individuals, business owners and academic institutions. I will make absolutely certain religious orders like The Little Sisters of the Poor are not bullied by the federal government because of their religious beliefs…”

Say what you want about Donald Trump, but he defends the Catholic Church.
