Vote Your Beliefs

Dear Editor: Wake up, Catholics! Our record is an embarrassment. Every Democrat who represents our neighborhoods is pro-abortion and that is almost true of all New York State representatives as well. Several claim to be Catholic, like our governor and female U.S. senator.

True Spirit of the Council?

St. Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI, papacies that total 35 years, were participants at the Second Vatican Council and the drafting of the resulting documents. I would think their direct experience enabled them to reflect the true Spirit of the Council.

Letterwriter Misunderstood

The Professional Ministers of Deanery Q9 take issue with my letter of April 2 concerning the disrespect shown to the Catholic bishops by N.Y.S. Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie. Their response misses the point.

Upholding the Constitution

Personally, I would seriously consider voting for any conservative Muslim candidate that swears to uphold the U.S. Constitution.

Pro-Life Means Anti-Abortion

It was Obama who first told his followers to bring a gun to a knife fight, of getting in the face of Republicans, of punishing our enemies, rewarding our friends and demanding those who disagree get out of the way.

Sister Alice Will be Missed

Dear Editor: I am saddened to read the story of Sister Alice Michael, S.U.S.C., leaving the Faith Formation Office and her position absorbed.

Holy Week Devotions in Bay Ridge

Dear Editor: It was inspiring to see the pictures of the many Good Friday devotions around the boroughs and to read about the beautiful Polish custom of blessing the Easter baskets on Holy Saturday morning.

Tributes to Mother Angelica

Dear Editor: Mother Angelica would break through brick walls for Jesus. Yet, we often hear unfair criticisms of the Catholic Church regarding women.

Diverse Black Community

Dear Editor: We the professional ministers of the parishes of Deanery Q9 (S.E. Queens) which serves a predominately Black Catholic community wish to express our disappointment that the letter from Gerald De Maio was published in The Tablet (April 2). We found the letter inflammatory, stereotypical and offensive.
