Letters to the Editor

Welcome, Bishop Tiedemann

Dear Editor: I was overjoyed to read in The Tablet this week that Bishop Neil Tiedemann, C.P., has been named an Auxiliary Bishop for the Diocese of Brooklyn.

Being a resident of Immaculate Conception Parish in Jamaica, I remember the time when Father Neil served as parochial vicar from 1975 to 1982. His compassion touched the lives of many, and we always looked forward to his return visits to the Passionist Monastery.

When Father Neil served as pastor of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary parish in Red Hook, and The Tablet was located in Carroll Gardens, I saw him walking the streets of Red Hook and Carroll Gardens ministering to the people. I also remember him visiting the office at 310 Prospect Park West.

In conclusion, all I can say is “Welcome Home Bishop Neil” and congratulations to the Diocese of Brooklyn.
