What One Priest Can Do

Dear Editor: Thank you for Ed Wilkinson’s uplifting article, “Mother Teresa Visited Brooklyn Many Times,” (August 31), which recounts the devotion a Catholic priest has had for now St. Teresa of Calcutta and her Missionaries of Charity who have impacted the lives of scores of women and their children in the diocese.

Avoidable Tragedies

Dear Editor: These incidents are tragic because they are so avoidable. Mr. Carr was killed by another male black while participating in a protest/riot over a recent shooting of a black suspect by the police in Charlotte, S.C. The police shot and killed a convicted felon with a stolen gun who posed an immediate threat.

A Not So Barren Island

Dear Editor: I truly appreciated reading Ed Wilkinson’s column on little-known Barren Island (Aug. 27).

Thanks from Queens Village

Dear Editor: Thank you so much for the announcements and the excellent coverage your team has provided for Our Lady of Lourdes parish’s celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Velankanni – both in The Tablet and on NET.

Merciful Opportunity

Dear Editor: At the opening of the Jubilee Year of Mercy, Our Holy Father, Pope Francis asked all Catholics to reflect upon and increase both the corporal and spiritual works of mercy in their lives.

As one who has devoted most of my adult life to the ministry of liturgical music (now semi-retired), please allow me to say that the number one priority for restoring and rejuvenating the spiritual life of the worshipping faithful is: get rid of the pig-slop music!

Dems Disqualify Themselves

Dear Editor: “…the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, a direct killing of the innocent child…and if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?” These prophetic words were spoken in 1994 at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. Voting Is an Obligation

Dear Editor: Did George Weigel (Sept. 17), who normally offers insightful analysis, recently suffer a concussion? With so much at stake, how could he suggest not voting in the presidential election. First, it is a moral duty.
