Irish Catholic heritage was on display at the 37th annual Brooklyn St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Park Slope on March 18. This year’s theme was “Faith, History, Tribute and Remembrance.” Festivities began with morning Mass, celebrated by Auxiliary Bishop Octavio Cisneros at Holy Name Church. Following breakfast in Shepherd’s Hall, local parishes, schools, Knights of Columbus and scouts stepped off from Prospect Park West. The Brooklyn Irish American Parade Committee led the way with Grand Marshal John Ridge and his aides: Donald Kent, Gloria Bischoff, Anne Hearn, James Healy, Virginia Sheehan, John Moore, Harry Farrell and Frank Keegan. This year’s parade was dedicated to the memories of N.Y. Governor Hugh Carey and Kevin Patrick Carroll, local civic and political leader. (Photos © Marie Elena Giossi)
