Sister Patricia O’Donohue, R.S.M., formerly Sister Mary Aloysius, a member of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas for 63 years, died Dec. 5 at McAuley Hall Health Center in New Jersey. She was 83.

Rita G. Powers

Rita G. Powers, the mother of Father Robert Powers, pastor of St. Patrick’s Church in Long Island City, died Dec. 28 at Queen of Peace Residence in Queens Village.

Margaret Mary Forsyth, S.S.N.D.

Margaret Mary Forsyth, S.S.N.D., a member of the School Sisters of Notre Dame for 72 years, died Jan. 20 at Ozanam Hall in Bayside. She was 92.

What Is the Value Of Life?

On the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Jan. 22, Catholics and Christians around this nation said a prayer for the unborn. Each year, thousands flood to Capitol Hill for the March for Life, where many believers make a public pledge against abortions. I reflect on this infamous law and all the victims it has taken, and ask myself as a new mother, what is the value of life?
