In a collaborative effort between the two parish youth groups from the Basilica of Regina Pacis and Most Precious Blood-Ss. Simon and Jude, a night dedicated for fellowship and Eucharistic Adoration was held at St. Joseph Chapel in Bensonhurst, Nov. 15.
“The most worthy endeavor in youth ministry is to communicate the presence of Christ in the lives of our young people,” Sean Cintron said, a youth minister from the Basilica of Regina Pacis,
Bensonhurst.
For Cintron and Alejandro Quinones, the youth minister from Most Precious Blood, their goal was two-fold: bring young people together to experience both contemplative and charismatic prayer and offer an opportunity to meet other young people who share their faith.
“The Holy Spirit was present and moving that night,” Quinones said. “We’ve been asked when the next one will be and while there is no set date, NOW will be making a return in 2020.”
The event, entitled NOW or Night of Worship, gathered youth and young adults from around the diocese including Rockaway, Sheepshead Bay, Bensonhurst, Coney Island and Bath Beach.
Praise and worship was led by Gilbert Rodriguez, youth minister from The Shrine Church of St. Gerard Majella in Hollis. Eucharistic adoration was presided by Father Espinal, parochial vicar at Our Lady of Angels in Bay Ridge.
Regina Pacis youth group member Nelly Garcia said, “adoration was very special and a great way to wrap up a long week. It was a moment to worship the Lord and have a personal connection with Him. I feel like everyone should get a chance to experience adoration at least once.”
