Recreating Ancient Civilizations in Fabrication Lab
This week, Bishop Kearney’s Fabrication Lab is alive with Dr. Ralph Protano’s Global History classes recreating ancient valley civilizations.
One group of students at the Bensonhurst school is building a functional mini model of the ancient Egyptian canal system which will have real flowing water and real agriculture.
Another group is busy designing and constructing monumental ancient buildings.
Structures they are building include pyramids, temples, ziggurats and the first organized cities. The students will learn how great buildings were constructed to advertise the rule of the small societal elite.
Students will also learn how these societies sustained, lived and why they built their societies close to rivers.
