For local non-profit Reconnect Brooklyn, the upcoming summer season would normally mean a wave of work for the young men who have picked up the skill of screen-printing t-shirts.
Founded in 2010 by Father Jim O’Shea, C.P., a Passionist priest, the Bedford-Stuyvesant organization connects at-risk young men ages 17-24 to mentorship and education through employment and social enterprises.
At Reconnect Brooklyn, art, discipline, and mentorship usually meet, resulting in one of the best t-shirt businesses in town. But, due to the coronavirus, summer youth programs, outings, and events — all of which would require a t-shirt or two — have been canceled…
