St. Francis Prep, Fresh Meadows, boys’ varsity basketball coach Tim Leary earned his 600th career win Jan. 8 when his L’il Terriers defeated All Hallows H.S., the Bronx, 66-40.

Leary, a 1963 graduate of St. Francis Prep, has spent the past 39 seasons at the school after being head boys’ coach at St. Augustine D.H.S.

With the passing last March of Archbishop Molloy H.S., Briarwood, boys’ varsity basketball coach Jack Curran, Leary is now the active wins leader among Brooklyn/Queens CHSAA coaches.

The school will honor Coach Leary with a pre-game ceremony Feb. 7 before the team takes on Holy Cross H.S., Flushing.
