Last week, the Diocese of Brooklyn published the list of members of its clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse against minors. Reading the list and the accompanying statement is a sobering experience.

St. Matthias Catholic Academy Hosts First NYC Hydroponics Lab

Using a ribbon created from freshly grown rosemary, St. Matthias Catholic Academy (SMCA), Ridgewood, recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil its NY Sun Works Hydroponic STEM Lab. It is the first Catholic elementary school in New York City to build a hydroponics lab.

Sister Rose Anthony Walshak, O.P., a Sister of St. Dominic, Amityville, L.I., for 70 years, died Jan. 18. She was 93.

Liliane DeRosa, the wife of Frank DeRosa, former director of the diocesan Public Information Office, died peacefully at Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, Conn., Feb. 14. She was 82.
