Foot-washing Rite Is Not for Men Only

Following a request by Pope Francis, the Vatican issued a decree specifying that the Holy Thursday foot-washing ritual can include “all members of the people of God,” including women – a practice already observed by the pope and many priests around the world.

Wade decision in 1973. They were there to witness to the world, to the president and all lawmakers, of the value of human life, from conception to natural death.

March for Life Was More Than a Numbers Game

The New York Times reported that “hundreds” of people showed up for the annual March for Life on Jan. 22 in the nation’s capital. The Washington Post was a little more generous by saying that “thousands” were there. The event’s organizers and participants estimated that there were actually about 50,000 brave souls who were present, despite the threat of one of the East Coast’s largest snowstorms ever, to demonstrate against the atrocity of abortion.

My dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, As we prepare to celebrate the World Day for Consecrated Life on Feb. 2, we remember that the Year of Consecrated Life called by our Holy Father, Pope Francis, will come to an end. However, the celebration of Consecrated Life in the Church, since its specific designation in 1997 by Saint John Paul II, must continue.
