Deputy Inspector Thomas Conforti, commander of the 109th Precinct, presented the ”Citizen Appreciation Award” to Father Joseph T. Holcomb, pastor of St. Andrew Avellino, Flushing, for his quick action leading to the capture of a thief who had recently robbed his church. Father Holcomb was in his rectory when he looked out the window and saw the thief ripping down a wanted poster that had been made from a security video and was distributed by the police. He immediately called the precinct and followed the thief at a safe distance while staying in contact with the police who captured the thief nearby.
