Dear Editor: The article written by Edith Avila Olea (“What Is the Value Of Life,” Feb. 1) was well written, and she states all the worries about the cost of pre-natal care, giving birth, the lack of paid parental leave, the cost of child care and that life isn’t a simple act of birth — it costs money.
She feels that conversations about life need to go beyond Roe v. Wade. I am saddened to hear that she would like affordable health care for our struggling families, affordable housing plus living wages without knowing that if we let the government provide all of these services, pro-life Christians would be paying for all the abortions, contraceptives, assisted suicide medications, sex change operations, etc.
It was very disheartening that today’s Catholic Democrats can’t open their eyes and see that you can’t be pro-life and and be in the pro-choice Democratic Party anymore.
