Williamsburg Parish Feast Honors St. Paulinus, Our Lady of Mount Carmel

The 124th annual Feast in honor of St. Paulinus and Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Williamsburg held its “lift” of the Giglio on Sunday afternoon, July 10. Thousands of people gathered to watch as 100 men raised and then danced the six-story high, three-ton tower. Msgr. Joseph Calise, pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the host parish, was the main celebrant of the liturgy which began the festivities. Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio will visit on the parish’s feast day, July 16, when he will celebrate 10 a.m. Mass and participate in an outdoor procession. The final “dance” of the Giglio will take place on Sunday, July 17, 1-6 p.m.
