Dear Editor: The world is in the midst of spiritual estrangement (Readers’ Forum, Free College Education?, Dec. 29).

While it is true that God, through grace, speaks to every human being, we have stopped listening. We have experienced spiritual estrangement before but 9/11 and the fear that followed really deepened our estrangement.

There are politicians and newscasters that stroke our fears and move us further from God and closer to death. However, I believe that as danger grows and becomes more imminent so too the response to it. Never lose hope!
