Letters to the Editor

Washington Recognized It

Dear Editor: Thank you very much to The Editor’s Space (Feb. 13) that mentioned our First President, George Washington.

Words of his that stand out in my mind, in particular, are “I cannot tell a lie….” Yes, he did chop down the cherry tree. And he could not lie and say that he did not.

His blessed legacy to all Americans and to the new infant Republic of the United States of America does not have enough words to adequately express our thanks.

My hope and prayer is that we are able to protect, preserve and pass on to succeeding generations that blessed legacy of freedom given to all of us by a Providential God and upon which our nation was founded. President George Washington recognized that principle.

Thank you so much for remembering and honoring the character essentials of George Washington, the First President of the U.S.A.
