Father Patrick Flanagan, C.M., who grew up in St. Frances de Chantal parish, Wantagh, L.I., attending the parochial school there; Holy Trinity Diocesan H.S., Hicksville; Niagara University; Mary Immaculate Seminary, Northampton, Pa.; and Immaculate Conception Seminary, Huntington.
He also spent a year at the Vincentians’ internal seminary in Germantown, Philadelphia.
He was ordained in 1992 by Rockville Centre Bishop John R. McGann at the Shrine of the Miraculous Medal in Germantown. He was assigned to the local parish of Immaculate Conception.
In 1994, he returned to Niagara University to serve as campus minister. In 1998, Father Flanagan joined his religious community at DePaul University in Chicago, Ill., as he studied for his Ph.D. in Ethics at Loyola University.
Since 2003, Father Flanagan has served locally in the Diocese of Brooklyn at St. John’s University, where he is presently a tenured associate professor and Superior of the Vincentian community at the university.
He will join other jubilarians from the Order’s Eastern Province for a celebration in Germantown on June 4.
