Nearly 900 people attended St. John’s University’s 17th annual President’s Dinner on Oct. 30. The event raised $2,004,500 in scholarship funds while honoring those who embrace the Vincentian mission of service with the Spirit of Service Award.
This year’s honorees were: Anthony Butler, executive director, St. John’s Bread and Life, Bedford-Stuyvesant, one of the most prominent hunger and homeless advocates in Brooklyn and citywide; Kevin F. Reed, retired managing director, Citigroup Asset Management, and mentor and sponsor of students at Catholic schools throughout New York City; and James P. Riley, Jr., retired partner and managing director, Goldman Sachs and Company, and founder of Riley Family Foundation, which provides need-based scholarships.
